11 chronologically ordered musical depictions of paintings by the Catalan artist Joan Miró, with his wide variety of self-portraits serving as the musical refrain. Recording also includes premiere recordings of Jack Gabel's Through a Gentle Rain, Bernard Andres's Narthex, Tessa Brinckman's Glass Sky, and D'Arcy Reynolds' Cloven Dreams. Music for flute, violin, viola, cello, harp, and koto.

Roses from the south - April 21, 2018

Premiere of my new string orchestra piece, Roses from the South, commissioned by the Newport Youth Symphony Festival, in Newport Oregon. In this case, "the South" means South of the border between the United States and Mexico: each of the four movements represents a different flower indigenous to Mexico (and occasionally to California as well): Chocolate Cosmos, Mexican Passion Flower, Shaving Brush Tree, and Pineapple Sage. Newport Performing Arts Center, 7:30 p.m. Ticket info TBA.

WAGE PEACE - june 10, 2018

Celebrating their 30th anniversary, the award-winning Ragazzi Boys Chorus will premiere Wage Peace for chorus, French horn, and piano, commissioned specifically for this occasion. It will be the closing song on the concert, and will include all Ragazzi choirs. To read the poem Wage Peace, which was written by Judyth Hill on September 11, 2001, click here. Mark Fish is a composer, arranger, violinist, and violist from the San Francisco Bay Area. His music has been performed by the Minnesota Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony's Adventures in Music Program, and Music at the Mission, where currently he serves as composer-in-residence. He has also had works commissioned by the Magic Flutes, the Del Sol String Quartet, Black Cedar Trio, the Newport Symphony, and Asian American Dance Performances. As a conductor, he has worked for the San Jose Youth Symphony, Peninsula Girls Chorus, Peninsula Youth Artists, and Hillsdale High School orchestras and choirs. He currently conducts the Premiere Assai Ensemble for the Ragazzi Boys Chorus and teaches music for the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District. As violinist/violist, he has performed with the San Francisco Merola Opera Program, the American Bach Soloists, Dave Brubeck, the Moody Blues, and Ray Charles.
