Alla Festiva comprises the music from the bullfight section
of Ferdinand the Bull. It's quick and festive, with meters
that alternate periodically between 3/4 and 4/4.
Originally, the music was composed for brass quintet (with
either tuba or bass trombone as the lowest instrument). The
subsequent arrangement for flute, clarinet, horn, and
trombone was performed at over 150 schools in the San
Francisco Unified School District during the 2002-2003 school
year for the San Francisco Symphony's Adventures in Music
program that tours local schools annually.
